Card 3 - Action to Take to Meet the Challenge: Explorer of Earth
Connect deeply with Nature. Be outdoors. STABILITY. EARTH KNOWLEDGE. CONNECTION TO HOME. Spiritual connection through body. Fitness and wholesome diet are best kind of health care.
Again, this is directly consistent with the lines of thought and planning I've been pursuing. Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail will get me outdoors, both then and now as I start to train, and connected about as deeply with Nature as possible (short of being dead and buried!). Again, this feels like confirmation from the universe.
I'm hoping to do as much foraging for fresh food along the trail as possible, so that means I have to get onto parts of the trail next summer to see what is growing at that time of the year and learn as much as I can about plant identification and differentiation from harmful species. I also want to make as much of my own dehydrated food as possible, which will require a lot of planning this winter. In both cases, "earth knowledge" will be required.
Local foods is certainly a way of deepening my "connection to home". Hiking the mountains I see from home is another kind of connection which has always been important to me. I'm pretty sure that promoting eating local foods will be part of my ongoing career plans as well, at least for the near future.
I can't help but believe I will gain every possible way of connecting with my body through training and carrying out this goal, and I will discover through personal experience if "fitness and wholesome diet" indeed make me feel as radiantly healthy as I would like to feel.
"Explorer of Earth" is the perfect name for the card describing the action to meet the challenge of getting perspective and clarity on my life and "liquifying" to completely transform myself. Being happy with my body is something I have only rarely experienced--maybe twice that I can think of in my whole life.
Doesn't "Explorer of Earth" just sound like the description of a backpacker? While the challenge was described as related to the element of Air (thought, ideas, mental clarity, etc.), the solution is found in the element of Earth (mountains, physicality, etc.). I will clarify and sort out my thoughts, gaining mental clarity and energy ("fire at the core") by exploring both the outward physical world and my personal physical body's health and vitality.
